Next, comes the hustle and bustle of necessary activity; like notifying family and friends, finding food, a safe place to stay and connecting and exchanging stories with other survivors. Then comes reality…. the shock, apprehension and anxiety. Many will develop the post-traumatic “1000-yard stare”, much like we might see in the eyes of a soldier just returning from combat, and they ask themselves: “Will my life ever be the same?  What do I do now?  How do I begin?”
